Trump Still Considering Swapping Central American Refugees (in Costa Rica) to Australia in Exchange for Middle Easterners Detained by Australia! Not a Joke!

A Trump spokesperson said on Tuesday, as reported by Reuters, that it will still take the over 1,000 Middle Eastern refugees-migrants (from majority Muslim countries) that are trying to enter Australia, if Australia would take (presumably the same number of) Central American refugee-migrants (from majority Christian countries), as agreed by Obama. Donald Trump's tweets are now presidential records

Shontavia Johnson, Professor of Intellectual Property Law, Drake University at Politics + Society – The Conversation - 33 minutes ago
By many accounts, Donald Trump’s bold use of Twitter helped him get the attention and votes necessary to win a presidential race few initially thought he could. Given Trump’s affinity for the social media platform, it was unsurprising that tweets began streaming from his @realDonaldTrump account before noon on Inauguration Day. Trump’s first tweets as president included snippets of his inauguration speech, simple thank yous to supporters and a short clip of the Freedom Ball dance he shared with his wife. Within 24 hours, however, the new president stumbled up against complicated ... more »

The best legal arguments against Trump's immigration ban

Steven Mulroy, Law Professor in Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Election Law, University of Memphis at Politics + Society – The Conversation - 5 hours ago
Is President Trump’s recent executive order on immigrants and refugees legal? It’s a surprisingly tricky question. The order arguably violates both a federal statute and one or more sections of the Constitution – depending on whether the immigrant is already in the U.S. In the end, opponents’ best hope for undoing the order might rest on the separation of church and state. Trump’s order bars the entry of any refugee for 120 days, and Syrian refugees indefinitely. It also bans citizens of Iraq, Iran, Syria, Somalia, Sudan, Libya and Yemen from entering the U.S. for 90 days. Thi... more »

Lessons from History: The fall of Rome began with the abuse of refugees

Peter Cresswell at Not PC - 9 hours ago
*[image: Rome]* *Our guest poster Harrison Searles is not suggesting this as a causal link in Rome’s fall, simply as one leading symptom that marked the beginning of the end. A very important symptom, complete with a very topical lesson: “Rome ultimately couldn’t keep the Goths out; those it barred eventually crossed the Danube anyway. Its downfall shows what [can] happen… when, instead of accommodating and assimilating refugees, you isolate and abuse them.”* Some people have compared the migrant crisis in Europe today with the barbarian invasion that brought down the Roman Em... more »

Corbyn's Alternative Facts on Thatcher and Apartheid as not reported by the BBC

Guido Fawkes https://order-order.com/2017/01/31/corbyns-thatcher-apartheid-lie/ has found another example of a Labour lie. 'Jeremy Corbyn has written to Theresa May claiming Margaret Thatcher "supported Apartheid". He's tweeted the same: A demonstrably untrue statement straight out of the Trumpian playbook that the Labour leader is currently copying. Nelson Mandela praised Thatcher's role in helping to end Apartheid, famously saying: "She is an enemy of Apartheid. We have much to thank her for." How Florida is helping train the next generation of cybersecurity professionals

Sri Sridharan, Managing Director, Florida Center for Cybersecurity, University of South Florida at Science + Technology – The Conversation - 1 day ago
Students via shutterstock.com Our increasingly connected and digital world is vulnerable to attack and needs more skilled professionals who know how to defend it. As connected devices proliferate, particularly smart devices creating what has been called the “Internet of Things,” the problem is getting worse. In 2016, there were 6.4 billion connected devices in use in homes and businesses across the country. By 2020, that number is expected to more than triple. Each of these connections – whether from a laptop, a smartwatch, a television or even an insulin pump – offers a potential ... more »

Builder to Registrar: “I find it appalling that my means of earning a livelihood is at the mercy of answering to you”

Peter Cresswell at Not PC - 1 day ago
One reason the cost of doing building business is so high is that builders and designers in New Zealand no longer have a right to work. The Licensed Building Practitioner regime brought in a few years ago by this National Government took away that right, instead just granting builders and designer bi-annual *permission* to ply their trade, *if and only if* that permission is kindly granted by whatever the Building Industry Authority currently chooses to call itself. One Auckland builder at least has had enough of begging permission from the grey ones, penning this letter back t... more »

Though her citizenship status was incorrectly documented in the 1940 United States census, there is no evidence to suggest that she was ever in violation of any immigration laws prior to her naturalization in 1942.

*"The Deep State's Doomsday Bug"* by Bill Bonner "My contact- a former CIA Director- died mysteriously, just after revealing a powerful network of insiders who pull America’s strings. This is my attempt to expose what they’ve done… and why It cannot be stopped. On May 6, 1996, a body was found floating face down in the shallow water of the Chesapeake Bay. It was the body of a former CIA director, a man who used to consult for me. The Charles County, Maryland police department logged it as an accidental drowning. But many of us suspect otherwise. McCain: "Every American Should Be Alarmed By Russia's Attacks On Our Nation"

DownWithTyranny at DownWithTyranny! - 1 day ago
Trump must have been fuming when he launched his latest crazed, Adderall-fueled Twitter attack. It was against two senior Republicans though, not the millions of people protesting his unconstitutional Muslim ban over the weekend. Whether Putin hacked the electronic machines in Macomb County, Michigan, just stole and released embarrassing e-mails from Democrats or just wished Trump well, his stake in the 2016 election was primarily centered on two premises-- to weaken NATO and get them to stop threatening Russia and to end the painful economic and financial sanctions enacted when R... more »

Once the bravery-inducing drugs in their system wear off, I have to assume that at least some of them– if not most– would become quite flexible under the threat of torture, not to mention the torture itself. Participation in smaller-sized riots, currently a misdemeanor, would be upgraded to a felony carrying up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. State Rep. Stoke-on-Trent might be the centre of the political universe, but that isn't to say tumultuous events don't take place outwith the gilded city limits.
