There's Even Good News For Hillary And The Democrats In A Red Hellhole Like Idaho

The O'Neill cylinder (also called an O'Neill colony) is a space settlement design proposed by American physicist Gerard K. O'Neill in his 1976 book The High Frontier: Human Colonies in Space. O'Neill proposed the colonization of space for the 21st century, using materials extracted from the Moon and later from asteroids. An O'Neill cylinder would consist of two counter-rotating cylinders. The cylinders would rotate in opposite directions in order to cancel out any gyroscopic effects that would otherwise make it difficult to keep them aimed toward the Sun. Bring Back Subsidies

Owen Gray at Northern Reflections - 16 hours ago
There has been an outcry lately about political party fundraising. I, for one, am getting tired of all the parties sending me emails asking for a donation. Susan Delacourt writes: We know that all political parties need money — millions of dollars a year, in fact. But what exactly are they selling to get it? So far, the Liberals’ answers on these questions have been less than adequate. We’ve heard the business-as-usual rationale: “All parties engage in fundraising,” Government House leader Bardish Chagger said in the Commons this week. “We all have to follow the same rules. Once Again: The Democrats' Very Worst Senate Candidate-- Erin Patrick Murphy, AKA- Privileged Patrick

DownWithTyranny at DownWithTyranny! - 16 hours ago
There are 5 Senate races that are really close and that will determine which party controls that body for the next two years-- but neither swingy Ohio nor Florida, where Chuck Schumer picked his own candidates, Ted Strickland and Patrick Murphy, and rammed them through the primary process-- are among them. Both Schumer's candidates were seen as duds before Schumer insisted on them and both have proven the point after they were given the Democratic nominations on silver platters. Way back in May, months before Obama put his finger (and toes and whole torso) on the scale for Murphy,... more »

Having missed PMQs yesterday I only heard about the extraordinary exchange between Charles Walker MP and the Prime Minister on Susan Hulme’s BBC radio 4 late night parliamentary round-up. Many others have commented on this surreal episode, but I’m still trying to digest Theresa May’s ambiguous and, if I may say so, obscurantist response. Here’s the dialogue, courtesy of the BBC: Mr Walker, the MP for Broxbourne, had asked Mrs May: "When people make fun of Christianity in this country, it rightly turns the other cheek. The Importance of Arguing Honestly

Phil at All That Is Solid ... - 1 day ago
There's an interesting article in the latest edition of *Progress* Magazine. Crowded Ground by Robert Philpot takes a brief survey of the political scene before identifying emerging territory vacated, he claims, by ourselves and our Conservative opponents. He makes some interesting points about May's flirtation with populism, another thing she borrowed from Ed Miliband. Yes, who knew? But it is an argument with some legs. As Ed was positioning Labour to mount his crusade against the predators of 21st century capitalism, it meant setting up a rhetorical structure in which the rip o... more »

*Louisa Loveluck, Washington Post*: *What a Syrian PR trip says about Bashar al-Assad’s thinking* After five years of war, Syria has become a byword for the sort of vicious assault on civilian life unseen in the 21st century. But in a rare press trip to the capital, Damascus, this week, visitors tasted a different reality. In town at the invitation of President Bashar al-Assad’s government, Western reporters, politicians and analysts — some temporarily struck from the government’s blacklist — found a city where guns had fallen silent and bars were abuzz. Turkey And Iraq On The Brink Of War

Turkey is preparing for a possible invasion of Iraq by deploying troops and military hardware to the southern border town of Silopi. Just hours after the deployment and less than a week after Turkey’s President Recep Erdogan said his forces might pursue Kurdish fighters across the border, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi warned the Turkish military not to enter its territory or it would “pay a heavy price”. 99 Years of Lies: Balfour gave Palestine to the New World Order, not to the Jewish People

Knowledge Is Power at Knowledge Is Power - 1 day ago
Today in 1917, the Jewish politician, Balfour, issued his infamous Declaration, giving the land of Palestine to his fellow Jews. Balfour was not a Palestinian, he did not live in Palestine, but all the same, he felt that as a person of Jewish heritage, working for the contemptible Imperial government of Britain, he had the right to interfere in the lives of people living many miles from the UK. The Balfour Declaration was issued to assure the Jews in the USA that the UK was an obedient little puppy dog, which would bend over backwards to advance the interests of the global Jewish... more »

Noose In Workplace Doesn't Equal Discrimination, Says Court

Donna Ballman at Screw You Guys, I'm Going Home - 1 day ago
People look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them that there are multiple cases saying a noose at work does not equal actionable race discrimination. Well, here's another one. This case was shocking even to me because coworkers testified that there had been multiple instances of nooses hung in this workplace. Plus, the employee claimed other instances of being treated differently than non-black employees. Yet, in this case the 7th Circuit found that the employer did enough by reporting the incident to the police and leaving the rest to them. Here's what the court said: Employers ar... more »
