Stopping Violence is not the objective of Gun Control
Those who are calling for banning guns are also calling for military intervention and aggressive wars. This proves that they are not interested in stopping violence and reducing suffering in society.

It’s Time to Get Realistic About Gun Control

We have seen far too many of these incidents, but those demanding more gun laws, more gun bans and neutering of the NRA all miss the common denominator in every one of these shootings.

Each and every one of them happened in a place that already had a strict, no guns allowed policy.

Sounds about right.

Stoners Stumble Across the ‘Law of Unintended Consequences’

more vulnerable Canadians have had to bear the brunt and serve as proxy targets for Warman's shakedown racket. He is now suing Blazing Cat Fur merely for linking to "far-right web site" SteynOnline, and demanding half-a-million dollars for damage to his "reputation".

Canada is having a lot of trouble with news blackouts, too. Here is some good commentary on the uprising that begain in Canada on December 10. Please share. We can help get each other's news out by sharing.

Morning family and friends,

ALL MY RELATIONS!

There is an awakening occurring across this land, a restlessness stirring, the people are responding. December 10, 2012, will be the beginning of yet another historical day in Canada.

On December 10, 2012, thousands of people rallied throughout Canada, a revolution-uprising, what motivated the people to rise?

Treaties.

I am a direct descendant of Chief Laviolette whom signed Treaty 8. We are all direct descendants of TREATIES.

Prime Minister Harper has dismissed Treaties. We are not going to allow this to happen. WE cannot. WE will not.

The media blackout is a muzzle to deny our response by not allowing Canadians to witness our unity and strength via news/media.

WHen the people revolted throughout Canada on December 10, 2012, it was a testament and evidence that OUR Treaties are LIVING documents.

Our shared history was not permitted in the education system, consequently keeping Canadians and indeed, ourselves from being informed of our history, and the truth denied regarding the relationship between Canada, First Nations and Metis. Regardless, as the Treaties are living documents, and we are still here, direct descendants of TREATIES, the efforts to deny and dismiss Treaties and our history is futile because we will not allow this to happen.

Treaties and OUR relationship is between ALL OF US.

For the most part Canadians assume they are not descendants of the Treaties, when in fact, they are. Treaties were created for ALL OF US, therefore this is not only a First Nation/Metis issue or concern, it is everyones responsibility.

And indeed EVERYONES right to revolt!

WHY?

Because Prime Minister Harper will continue to regulate, dictate and deny not only our Treaties, he will continue to deny our HUMAN RIGHTS. This is no longer an assumption, a concern, not even a threat. HE HAS denied ALL of our HUMAN RIGHTS by virtue of NOT consulting with Canadians, First Nations and Metis people.

It is no longer whether he would, he did.

What we need to ask ourselves is this, what is next?

You see, everyone has a responsibility and a right to determine OUR RELATIONSHIP, how we share and protect this LAND, and protect our human rights.

The next step for Harper is to regulate WATER, RESOURCES, and then dictate to EVERYONE how water and resources will be used and who will control access. These are merely steps to a dictatorship that will imprison anyone who stands up against Corporation, in essence, if we allow this, it will be a matter of time before water is rationed, people are imprisoned, land is completely destroyed, and our human rights are no longer.

Impossible? Unbelievable?

Think it cannot happen? And what do the TREATIES have to do with WATER, HUMAN RIGHTS and RESOURCES.

EVERYTHING because the TREATIES are there to PROTECT our HUMAN RIGHTS, WATER AND NATURAL RESOURCES.

ALL OF US. You. Me. Your neighbor, my neighbor. Regardless of ethnicity, TREATIES affect everyone and are there to PROTECT all of us.

No one can sit back and do nothing.

Prime Minister Harper has placed a media BLACKOUT on this NATIONAL NEWS. What are you going to do about it?

YES YOU!

IDLE NO MORE !!! applies to all of us.

Dronestream

American drone co-pilot: "Did we just kill a kid?"

Pilot: "Yeah, I guess that was a kid."

"Was that a kid?" they wrote into a chat window on the monitor.

Then, someone they didn't know answered, someone sitting in a military command center somewhere in the world who had observed their attack. "No. That was a dog," the person replied.

They reviewed the scene on video. A dog on two legs?

Is anybody else as disgusted as me by the torrent of manipulative tripe coming out of their TV in the wake of the Conneticut shooting?

The news anchors are falling over themselves trying to find ways to get the "we need gun control" message into every piece of coverage on this story.

This is a PSYOP ladies and gentlemen, unfolding even as we speak. The President cried - I don't think he's ever done that before.

Of course he never cried over any of those drone strikes which he authorised, like the one which killed a wedding party.

Normally I do not watch TV, but now that I am with family I'm forced to swallow this grotesque theatre of mind bending bullshit and I just have to unload, sorry!

A note about psychopaths from the previous thread: I would never assert that duped, mind controlled assassins are psychopaths, which I think was the imputation of some of the previous discussion. No, absolutely not. These killers are weak willed, mentally deficient bit players, essentially zombies... It is their HANDLERS who are the psychopaths.

These news reports drum into our heads the relentless message that all evil comes from the lone, rogue individual. There is no logic, no purpose, just random, meaningless violence. People are the problem.

Then the government steps in... to save you from this horror.

Obama: "We're going to have to come together and take meaningul action".

Only the government can save you, the government is your mother, your father and your God.

So let's give them total power, and let's take ALL power away from the people - after all they can't be trusted.

.
TURN OFF THE NEWS.......

Morgan Freeman's brilliant take on what happened yesterday :

"You want to know why. This may sound cynical, but here's why.

It's because of the way the media reports it. Flip on the news and watch how we treat the Batman theater shooter and the Oregon mall shooter like celebrities. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris are household names, but do you know the name of a single *victim* of Columbine? Disturbed
people who would otherwise just off themselves in their basements see the news and want to top it by doing something worse, and going out in a memorable way. Why a grade school? Why children? Because he'll be remembered as a horrible monster, instead of a sad nobody.

CNN's article says that if the body count "holds up", this will rank as the second deadliest shooting behind Virginia Tech, as if statistics somehow make one shooting worse than another. Then they post a video interview of third-graders for all the details of what they saw and heard while the shootings were happening. Fox News has plastered the killer's face on all their reports for hours. Any articles or news stories yet that focus on the victims and ignore the killer's identity? None that I've seen yet. Because they don't sell. So congratulations, sensationalist media, you've just lit the fire for someone to top this and knock off a day care center or a maternity ward next.

You can help by forgetting you ever read this man's name, and remembering the name of at least one victim. You can help by donating to mental health research instead of pointing to gun control as the problem. You can help by turning off the news."

Live coverage: 28 dead in US school shooting
www.abc.net.au
Police say events are still unfolding in the aftermath of one of the worst school shootings in the United States in which a gunman killed 20 young children and seven adults in the

‎"Don't politicize the mass shooting" is a nice way of saying that gun control advocates should only present their strongest arguments when nobody's listening. Only suckers fall for that kind of transparent concern trolling.

The History of Gun Control

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Let’s see how many defenseless people were exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control:

Country Year(s) People
Exterminated
USSR 1929-1953 20,000,000
Turkey 1915-1917 1,500,000
Germany 1939-1945 13,000,000
China 1948-1952 20,000,000
Guatemala 1964-1981 100,000
Uganda 1971-1979 300,000
Cambodia 1975-1977 1,000,000

Total: 56 million.

Governments around the World need a history lesson.

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own
government, a program costing Australian taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in:

1) Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent.
2) Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent.
3) Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent!)
4) In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent.

Note, that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns! While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns.

The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.

You won’t see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it’s too late! The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.

With guns, we are ‘citizens.’ Without them, we are ’subjects.’

It is a common fantasy that gun bans make society safer. In 2002 -- five years after enacting its gun ban -- the Australian Bureau of Criminology acknowledged there is no correlation between gun control and the use of firearms in violent crime. In fact, the percent of murders committed with a firearm was the highest it had ever been in 2006 (16.3 percent), says the D.C. Examiner.

Even Australia's Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research acknowledges that the gun ban had no significant impact on the amount of gun-involved crime:

In 2006, assault rose 49.2 percent and robbery 6.2 percent.
Sexual assault -- Australia's equivalent term for rape -- increased 29.9 percent.
Overall, Australia's violent crime rate rose 42.2 percent.

Moreover, Australia and the United States -- where no gun-ban exists -- both experienced similar decreases in murder rates:

Between 1995 and 2007, Australia saw a 31.9 percent decrease; without a gun ban, America's rate dropped 31.7 percent.
During the same time period, all other violent crime indices increased in Australia: assault rose 49.2 percent and robbery 6.2 percent.
Sexual assault -- Australia's equivalent term for rape -- increased 29.9 percent.
Overall, Australia's violent crime rate rose 42.2 percent.
At the same time, U.S. violent crime decreased 31.8 percent: rape dropped 19.2 percent; robbery decreased 33.2 percent; aggravated assault dropped 32.2 percent.
Australian women are now raped over three times as often as American women.

While this doesn't prove that more guns would impact crime rates, it does prove that gun control is a flawed policy. Furthermore, this highlights the most important point: gun banners promote failed policy regardless of the consequences to the people who must live with them, says the Examiner.

The odd thing about gun control is that a culture of censorship often increases after anti-gun laws fail to deliver. So, it would be hard for an Australian writer to submit a piece on Switzerland’s pro-gun ownership culture and low gun crime rate because our media isn’t “ready” to accept opposing views. Only a “thought control” culture can sustain a “gun control” culture.

At times like these, it’s easy to fall prey to post-massacre opportunists. Still, reason and not emotion is our best guide. The facts (to quote the Sporting Shooters’ Association of Australia) are as follows:

Between July 1 1997 and 30 June 1999 nine in ten offenders of firearm-related homicide were unlicensed firearm owners.

Raw data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) reveals that while suicide by firearms is continuing to decrease from a high in the 1980s, suicide by hanging steadily increased throughout the 1990s and increased for three consecutive years after the 1996 buy-back.

In the year 2002/2003, over 85% of firearms used to commit murder were unregistered. Recent legislation introduced by all states further strengthened controls on access to legitimate handguns by sporting shooters.

The AIC’s ‘Homicide in Australia: 2006-07 National Homicide Monitoring Program annual report’ stated that 93 per cent of firearms involved in homicides had never been registered and were used by unlicensed individuals.

Gun control is a myth, or rather a mountain of myths sustained by campaigning elites in secure buildings with armed bodyguards.

In a secret government agreement granted without approval or debate from lawmakers, the U.S. attorney general recently gave the National Counterterrorism Center sweeping new powers to store dossiers on U.S. citizens, even if they are not suspected of a crime, according to a news report.

Earlier this year, Attorney General Eric Holder granted the center the ability to copy entire government databases holding information on flight records, casino-employee lists, the names of Americans hosting foreign-exchange students and other data, and to store it for up to five years, even without suspicion that someone in the database has committed a crime, according to the Wall Street Journal, which broke the story.

Whereas previously the law prohibited the center from storing data compilations on U.S. citizens unless they were suspected of terrorist activity or were relevant to an ongoing terrorism investigation, the new powers give the center the ability t...See More

It's Official: The U.S. Is Now A Kleptocracy
The formal coronation of the criminal banking class occurred with the Department of Justice's announcement that even though HSBC “enabled Mexican drug cartels to move money illegally through its American subsidiaries” and—at the urging of one bank executive—“continue[d] working with the Saudi Al Rajhi bank, which has supported Al Qaeda,” the bank would not be criminally prosecuted because… government officials said so.
Actually, what DOJ said—that prosecuting HSBC would “destabilize the global financial system”—is far more dangerous than arbitrary fiat. By officially immunizing massive financial crimes from prosecution, the DOJ has ensured that criminals remain in charge of an admittedly shaky financial system.

“Today, this House will send the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to conference. Contrary to its title, the bill does not provide for the protection of the American people. It expands war. It further indebts our nation. It encroaches on basic rights with regards to indefinite detention. It eliminates the basic tenet that due process rights apply to everyone in this country – not just American citizens.

“The legislation also includes additional sanctions against Iran despite numerous reports that our sanctions are affecting the ability of ordinary Iranians to obtain medicine and offer basic goods. Sanctions have thus far not served to solve the impasse or bring Iran to the negotiating table. More sanctions are not the answer and do not bring us closer to a diplomatic solution.

“This legislation also perpetuates the myth that we are ending the war in Afghanistan. We are not leaving Afghanistan. We are deepening our commitment. Environment: New study shows dispersant makes oil up to 52 times more toxic to Gulf of Mexico microorganisms

the mixture of oil and dispersant is more easily absorbed by organisms, raising the question of whether the benefits of using dispersant are enough to offset the negative effects.
One study showed a dramatic change in the composition of microbial communities on some Gulf beaches, while another found traces of a toxic blend of oil and dispersants present in the surf line, where swimmers and surfers could be exposed. Scientists with the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution found that plumes of the dispersant lingered in deep Gulf waters for many months after the spill.
