The Torture Culture

.  Torture does not work to get information.  Period.  You do not torture people to get information, you torture people to send information, or rather, to send a message. What is that message?
We Torture People
That’s all the message is.

Colonialism is the Real Enemy

The Muslim world needs to realize that colonialism is the real enemy and if they are to arrest the decline prevalent in their lands they need to viciously target every aspect of the colonialist presence whether it be the agent rulers, democracy and the rejection of the biased international order which has imposed destructive wars and economic stagnation over their lands.

The History of Christmas and Its Pagan Origins

First Navy Jack In use for the duration of the...Image via Wikipedia  Many people suffer from the misconception that Christmas is a Christian holiday. The earliest history of Christmas is composed of "pagan" (non-Christian) fertility rites and practices which predate Jesus by centuries. The truth is, in short, the real history of Christmas has nothing to do with Christianity. Many of the traditions which we hold dear, such as decorating Christmas trees, singing Christmas carols, and giving Christmas gifts, are rooted in the traditions of non-Christian religions.

Child Slavery in Las Vegas' Seedy (not-so) Under World

Las Vegas has proudly earned its reputation as the "sin-city": the entertainment capital of the world where everything and anything goes, and where no one (supposedly) gets hurt in the process. Vegas represents the crown jewel in a hyper self-indulgent society, one which entirely rejects any notion of the transcendent. In a city where anything goes, an active market exists to cater to every individual whim, no matter what it may seek to feast upon. Therefore, in Vegas, the flesh market to sexually exploit young, innocent children is a 'grand affair'-one operating under near complete legal immunity. The supply of beautiful youth to enslave is equivalent to the tens of thousands of children who are unwanted, severely abused and/or simply thrown-away as an inconvenience-kids who have been rejected by everyone. In a society that brags of "saving" dogs and fluffy kittens from being euthanized, it is tragically ironic that no effort is made to save these children from the inconceivable brutality, depravity and inhumanity which is their daily lot in life.

Russia, India sign nuclear deals New Delhi and Moscow have signed several nuclear deals that will allow Russia to build two more nuclear power plants in southern India. The deal came during Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's two-day visit to India. Medvedev also signed a series of defense agreements worth billions of dollars in a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The Russian president has also struck a deal with India on jointly developing a new generation of fighter jets over 10 years. Indian and Russian officials also signed a protocol in New Delhi on Monday, agreeing to boost bilateral trade to $20 billion by 2015 and strengthening their "strategic partnership." Medvedev is also meeting ruling Congress party president Sonia Gandhi and several other senior Indian officials in New Delhi. This is Medvedev's second official visit to India. The first one was in December 2008. The military deals are expected to raise concerns for India's arch-rival Pakistan. India and Pakistan have occasionally tested conventional and unconventional weapons since their independence in 1947. New Delhi and Islamabad have refused to sign the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and other international regulatory pacts that restrict the development or testing of nuclear weapons in their country. New Delhi and Moscow were allies during the Cold War and India has traditionally bought many of its arms from Russia. Moscow is already building two nuclear plants in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

The Rigged Election of 2008 - by Mark E. Smith

I believe that the 2008 Presidential election in the US was rigged. My reason for believing this is that neither candidate attempted to appeal to the voters.
At that time public opinion was running strongly against bailouts--as high as 90% in some cases.

US intervened in Michael Moore NZ screening

The US government under George Bush really loathed the documentary filmmaker Michael Moore.

another cable reveals US officials flying into a panicafter hearing a rumour that a New Zealand cabinet minister was hosting a screening of Moore's film Fahrenheit 9/11.
Labelling the event a "potential fiasco", the classified cable from the US embassy in Wellington in 2003 reads like a failed plotline for an episode of In the Loop, breathlessly reporting a series of calls to the New Zealand prime minister's office and to the minister involved, Marian Hobbs.
Michael Moore, appearing on the Rachel Maddow Show on Tuesday night, said the New Zealand cable uncovered by WikiLeaks showed the unsettling reach of US influence. "If they were micromanaging me that much, if they were that concerned about the truth in Fahrenheit 9/11 that they have to go after a screening in a place I don't even really know where it is – I know it's way too long to sit in coach for me – I want to know. Because I think it speaks to a larger issue: if they have the time for that, what else are these guys up to?"
